Collective Memory and Transitional Justice Program

Research and Documentation of Memorials from 1999 – 2009

Since February 2010, Alter Habitus began the documentation of the memories built in Kosovo from 1999 to 2009, through their photographs and research by extracting data of the historical background of each memorial. By the term memorial we understand obelisks, busts, memorial plaques, valley cemeteries, etc.  Among other things, Alter Habitus is using GPS, with which is exploring the location coordinates of each memorial in Kosovo and these coordinates will be part of the database information.

This stage is a very important stage of the Collective Memory and Transitional Justice project, as for the first time in Kosovo, a memorial database is being created, built from 1999 to 2009.
